Significantly reduces fussing

By far, the most common known crying behavior in babies is unsettled and irritable behaviour, known as fussing. Clinical studies show that the Philips AVENT Classic feeding bottle significantly reduces fussing and colic. This was especially true during night-time.

Fussing: A clinical study showed that at two weeks of age, babies showed less fussing when using Philips AVENT Classic feeding bottle than babies fed with another leading bottles.

Colic: A clinical study showed that at two weeks of age babies fed with Philips AVENT bottle showed a trend to less colic than babies fed with a conventional bottle.

Anti-colic system

Feeding bottles, whether angled or straight, require air inside the bottle to replace and compensate for the milk that your baby takes. When your baby suckles and drinks, a vacuum is formed in the bottle causing the teat to collapse, restricting milk flow. When unable to receive milk, a frustrated baby's natural reaction is to suck more vigorously, which in turn increases the amount of air swallowed. Most conventional bottles need air to flow in through the hole in the tip of the teat to remove the vacuum, interrupting the flow and rhythm of sucking.

However with the Philips AVENT Special Edition Classic Feeding bottles, the unique skirt on the AVENT teat flexes to allow air into the bottle as your baby feeds to prevent any vacuum build-up. This allows your baby to suckle almost as if at the breast. Listen for the gentle whistling sound and watch the air bubbles burst on the surface of the milk. That's your assurance that the air is being released into the bottle--not into your baby's tummy.

The two-piece anti-colic system on the Philips AVENT Feeding Bottle contains a ring that must be fitted between the teat and the bottle for extra performance.

BPA-free and interchangeable with other AVENT products

Philips AVENT feeding bottles are 100% Bisphenol-A (BPA) free.

Philips AVENT products have also been designed to be compatible with one another and are easily interchangeable, aiding the transition from newborn to toddler. Bottles and teats can be screwed on to or used with breast pumps, breast milk storage containers, magic cups, training cups and drinking spouts. AVENT bottles are suitable for sterilising in Philips AVENT sterilisers too, and can be heated in the Philips AVENT Digital Bottle Warmer.

Ultra soft Silicone Teat

The Philips AVENT Slow Flow teat or nipple is ultra soft made of odour-less and taste-less silicone, ideal for newborn and breastfed babies of all ages as they are gentle to their delicate gum. Teats on Philips AVENT bottles are interchangeable, and available in newborn, slow, medium, fast and variable flow rates. Once baby moves up to the next teat stage, the old teat can simply be replaced with the new.

Remember that age indications are approximate, as babies develop at different rates. When your baby shows signs of tiredness/frustration during feeding and try to suck harder to get the milk more quickly, you will know your baby is ready to move onto a faster flow rate teat/nipple.
